Southside Baptist Church
by Katie Parker

Southside Baptist Church, Wow.

At this church there were many hard-hearted students who seemed as if they were just going through the motions. On Friday night when we arrived at Southside, it was very evident that we were going to be dwelling among many broken students this weekend. I prayed with all of my heart that God would do an awesome work in this youth group and that He would raise up leaders that would impact them in new and refreshing ways. I also prayed that Glowing Heart would be in full unity so that we were able to show the love of Christ to the students through our love for each other. During the rally on Friday night God had already begun to answer our prayers. He had already started convicting hearts as we poured ourselves out in worship to Him. On Saturday during recreation, God was still at work in the student’s hearts and it was so encouraging to see that as we were praying certain prayers for the weekend, they were being answered simultaneously. Then Saturday night worship came and yet again, we were blown away by God’s awesome power. It was so humbling to see that the Holy Spirit just took over and to know that that night was out of our hands and into the biggest hands in the universe. Many lives were made new and fresh again and there were even those who came to know Christ for the very first time! How exciting it is to be able to see students who are ready and willing to step out for the One who stepped out for them!

My prayer for this church is that the passion and fire that has been instilled in their hearts will not die down or fade away. I know that God will complete the work that He has already started and with his strength, this youth group will stand out and be a salty flavor to this flavorless world. Thank you for allowing Glowing Heart to be a part of this incredible weekend!!

I'm hungry. When is lunch?
