New Hope Baptist Church
by Rachel Jappe

This past weekend, serving with Glowing Heart, was my first experience at a DNOW. Because of this, I felt a little unprepared and ill equipped to teach. I earnestly prayed that God would give me the right words to say as I mentored these young girls, who happened to only be a year or two younger than me. I went to be a blessing to others and, in the process, found out how much I was blessed through everything. Being in a leadership position encourages me so much to make sure that I am right with God and that I do not lead others astray. I found that I was able to trust God fully with my insecurities and my doubts that He couldn’t use me. But He did use me! I was able to be a part of these girls making renewed commitments to live for Christ and grow in their walk with Him. What an amazing experience that was! There were many issues that I could relate to the girls with because I remember going through the exact same things and I was able to share the wisdom I gained through the experience. Being able to serve God is the most rewarding act I have ever done. So many times we focus on ourselves and our walk with God but fail to help others do the same. I was so blessed to serve and be a part of this ministry by giving back to God through what He has taught me. This experience was very fulfilling and I can’t wait to see what God has in store next. I encourage you all to trust that God can indeed use you even when you feel inadequate or that you have nothing to give. He wants to bless us in this way by helping to build His kingdom.

God bless,
Rachel Jappe
