Oakwood Baptist Church
by David Pooler

Going into this Discipleship Now weekend, our Glowing Heart members gathered together to pray and ask God to prepare us for spiritual warfare. The youth group at Oakwood Baptist Church had gone through a lot in the past year, going through changes through loss and disappointments alike. But God provides. God answers prayer. We met and worked with a wonderful and Christ-centered staff that had a genuine concern for the youth of the church. It excites me to see the generation before me showing such interest and commitment in seeing the development of the spiritual lives of students.

Over the weekend, we saw relationships between students forming, growing, and some even mending. I saw students beginning to dig deeper in the understandings and mysteries of God. The students were eager and energetic, making recreation, free time, and lunch time a blast! We leaders always appreciate great participation and loved the time spent with the Oakwood Baptist youth!

I believe every one of the students we met this D Now weekend needed to be there and needed to be ministered to in some way. I also see these D Now weekends to be a time for Glowing Heart members to be ministered to also, whether we see it in the provision of food, or a place to sleep, or in the love and joy we find in working with these young people and each other. Coming off of this trip, I felt so refreshed and reenergized, which is funny because I have to keep up with these kids! I just pray that these students will be able to take what they can from this weekend and use it to push on for the glory of our God and Savior!

What is better than pictures? Nothing!
