Georgetown Baptist Church
by Melissa Muir
Wow...where do I start? The Spirit moved in so many different ways last weekend at Georgetown Baptist Church. The maturity of the young people in this church was such an encouragement to me. Throughout the weekend, whether we were studying the Word or tackling our opponents in a highly competitive game of Steal the Bacon, the passion for Christ was evident in this youth group! As the three days flew by, Glowing Heart was able to bond with Georgetown, as well as the visitors that joined us, on a level only attained by the leadership of the Spirit.
Saturday afternoon, after all of the groups had returned from our service projects, there was a time of sharing how the Lord had moved in the different places. I was so thankful to be able to hear from the kids about where they had gone, and how God had worked. Whether they were painting at a women's crisis center, doing manual labor, or delivering meals to the elderly, the Lord blessed many people through the willingness in the kids' attitudes. Later that night during worship, it became clear to me that the Lord was preparing the hearts of this youth group through the service projects. The response to the prompting of the Spirit in that gym was overwhelming. Worshiping with such eager and genuine hearts was such a precious and refreshing experience, and it reminded me yet again of the awesome power of unity the Lord orchestrates among His children.
Glowing Heart was truly blessed by the kindness and hospitality we received from Georgetown Baptist. We continue to pray for them as they faithfully follow the Lord's leadership in Pottsboro, Texas.
